Canadian Pharmacy Spot is committed to making its website and online pharmacy services accessible to as many people as reasonably possible, including people with disabilities and people who use assistive technologies. We work to identify barriers that may make it difficult to browse the website, access medication or order information, submit information, communicate with us, or use other online services.
This page explains our approach to accessibility, the types of assistance that may be available, and how to contact us if you experience an accessibility problem.
Our Approach to Accessibility
We use recognized web accessibility practices, including the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), as a reference when reviewing and improving the website. Accessibility is an ongoing process because website content, technology, third-party services, browsers, devices, and assistive technologies change over time.
We do not represent that every page, feature, or third-party component meets every WCAG success criterion at all times. If an accessibility problem prevents you from using an important part of Canadian Pharmacy Spot, contact us so that we can review the problem and, where reasonably possible, provide another way to access the information or service.
Using the Website
We aim to make important website content and functions usable with common browsers, devices, and assistive technologies. Depending on the page or feature, accessibility measures may include:
- clear headings and logical page structure;
- keyboard access to important website functions;
- readable text and appropriate visual contrast;
- labels and instructions for forms and interactive controls;
- text alternatives for meaningful images where appropriate;
- support for browser zoom and text resizing; and
- information that does not rely only on colour, sound, or visual presentation.
The website may also be used with tools such as screen readers, voice-control software, keyboard navigation, browser magnification, and accessibility features built into computers and mobile devices. Results may vary depending on the combination of browser, operating system, device, and assistive technology being used.
Access to Pharmacy Services
A disability should not prevent a patient from requesting reasonable assistance with an online pharmacy service. If you have difficulty using a form, accessing your account, reading medication or order information, submitting prescription information, or using a particular communication method, contact Canadian Pharmacy Spot and explain what is creating the barrier.
Depending on the service and the patient’s needs, we may be able to provide information in another reasonably available format, use another suitable communication method, assist with an order or prescription-related process, or direct the request to the Healthcare Provider, Dispensing Pharmacy, or other provider responsible for that part of the service.
Accessibility assistance does not change prescription requirements, pharmacist review, identity verification, medical eligibility, payment requirements, or other legal and patient-safety rules that apply to an order or healthcare service.
Requesting Accessibility Assistance
If a disability creates a barrier to using Canadian Pharmacy Spot, you may contact us to request reasonable assistance or accommodation. Tell us which part of the website or service you are having difficulty with and what type of assistance would make it easier to access.
We may ask for enough information to understand the accessibility need and identify a suitable option, but you should not be asked to provide more personal or medical information than is reasonably necessary for that purpose. Requests are considered individually and in accordance with applicable requirements relating to accommodation.
Alternative Formats and Communication
If information on the website is not accessible to you in its current format, contact us and identify the page, document, form, or information you need. Where reasonably possible, we will consider another format or communication method that provides access to the same information or service.
Some prescription, medical, payment, or account communications must still meet privacy, security, identity-verification, and professional requirements. An alternative communication method may therefore need to be adjusted to protect patient information and maintain the safeguards required for the service.
Accessible Medication Information
If a disability makes it difficult to access medication instructions, prescription-related information, or pharmacy counselling in the usual format, contact us so that an appropriate communication option can be considered. Where counselling or medication information is provided by a separate Dispensing Pharmacy, that pharmacy remains responsible for meeting the professional and accessibility requirements that apply to its pharmacy services.
This Accessibility Policy and other publicly available information may also be provided in another reasonably available format upon request.
Third-Party Services
Some services available through Canadian Pharmacy Spot may involve independent Healthcare Providers, Dispensing Pharmacies, payment processors, identity-verification services, technology providers, fulfillment services, or Shipping Providers. These organizations may operate their own websites, applications, communication systems, or other technology.
We do not control every accessibility feature of independently operated third-party services. If a third-party component creates a barrier while you are using a service through Canadian Pharmacy Spot, contact us. We can review the issue and determine whether another reasonable way to access the service is available.
Patients Outside Canada
Canadian Pharmacy Spot may provide or coordinate certain services for patients outside Canada, including patients in the United States. Patients using the website from another country may also contact us if they experience an accessibility barrier or require a different way to access information associated with an available service.
Accessibility requirements and available accommodations may differ between jurisdictions. The fact that a website feature can be accessed from another country does not mean that every medication, pharmacy service, healthcare service, or delivery option is available there. Medical licensing, prescription requirements, pharmacy rules, import restrictions, and other local requirements may still determine whether a particular service can be provided.
Known Accessibility Limitations
Some content or functions may not work equally well with every assistive technology or device. Accessibility problems may occasionally arise with older content, complex forms, documents, newly introduced features, or components supplied by third parties.
If you encounter a problem, please report it rather than assuming that the information or service is unavailable. Details about the affected page, the problem you encountered, and the browser, device, or assistive technology you were using can help us investigate the issue.
If an important website feature is temporarily unavailable or creates an accessibility barrier, contact us and we will consider whether the information or service can be provided through another reasonable method.
Accessibility Feedback
We welcome feedback about accessibility on Canadian Pharmacy Spot. If you report a barrier, it is helpful to tell us which page or function you were trying to use, what happened, and what type of alternative or assistance would help you.
Accessibility feedback may be used to correct a specific problem and to improve future versions of the website. Where the issue relates to a service provided independently by a Healthcare Provider, Dispensing Pharmacy, or other third party, we may need to direct the request to the provider responsible for that service.
